Mr. Max came to us as a stray.  We named him Maximus Courage because he seemed a little skittish and sometimes a bold name can help!  He has been in our lives for only 2 days and he has already demonstrated that he is THE PERFECT gentleman.  He is incredibly intelligent and intuitive.   He is house trained, knows basic manners (sit, come, wait). We are working on “off” after we have invited him “up” for a snuggle.  He waits calmly for his dinner and graciously accepts treats with a “thankyou ma’am”. He is so gentle, our petite 12 year-old can walk him on the long lead without concern.  We are still working on short lead walks, some gentle tugs but not much more.  He self kennels during down time and has already figured out that he needs to wait there for his dinner.  

He enjoys being in your presence.  Wherever you are, that’s where he wants to be.  He will protect you from things that go bump in the night.  He is content to lay at your feet as you read, or gently nudge your hand on a walk, if you’re watching a movie he’ll be your blanket. 

He will do well as a sole companion or in a multi-dog home with the right introduction(he has 2 sisters) He has 2 feline-foster-siblings and other than a brief curiosity has shown no interest.  This is the dog you could give a kitten, and he would protec’. He also has two older children in his life.  The youngest is 12 but she’s very petite.
